Men’s League Winter Break Is Upon Us

No games scheduled from December 13th to January 4th.

Winter Break

The annual Winter Break has started and at the half-way point of the season we have some interesting battles going in the Men’s Winter League.

In the Smokey’s Division (1), Triple-O 1 has a 3 point lead heading into the mid-season break. The lead can be attributed to their outrageous Goals For tally of 75 in 11 games, which is the highest in any of the 3 divisions and leads the second most GF in the league by 29 goals! Their potent offence is led by Santeri Rantala who has 22 points (13-9) in a mere 7 games. Sam Vetrano of Smokeys 1 is the highest scorer in any of the 3 divisions with 23 points (12-11) in 10 games.

In the Blooie’s Division (2), Scotia 2 beat Blooie’s 2 in the last game to take sole possession of first place. Scotia 2 has the most GF and least GA in the division, but only lead Blooie’s 2 by 2 points in the standings. Frederic Druz leads all Blooie’s Division players with 17 points (12-5) and Steve Lee leads Scotia 2 team scoring with 13 points (9-4) in just 7 games. The scouts are keeping an eye on Ky Sargeant, who at 15 years of age is the starting goalie and Team Manager (TM) for Blooie’s 2. Well done Ky!

In the Lee’s Taiwanese Division (3), it’s as tight as you can get with the top 5 teams within 5 points of first place. Scotia 3 and Blooies 3 share the lead with 14 points. Lee’s Taiwanese, and Walton are making the second half of the season in Lee’s Taiwanese Division the most exciting by far. Triple O 3 has some work to do, but as we saw with Division 2 Black Team in the summer league, anything can happen down the stretch. Ryan Waechter and Mikko Torvinen lead the division with 12 points each, but the real story of the division thus far has to be Scotia’s defense and goaltending. They have allowed 12 goals in 10 games and the starting Goalkeeper, Cody Earhart, has a gaudy 1.00 GAA.

Games will resume on Sunday January 5th with the regularly scheduled Blooies Division games.

The Committee and volunteers at SIHA would like to wish you all Happy Holidays and hope you enjoy your time off.
