Pandoo Nation wins in its first ever Tournament.
The Singapore based ice hockey team representing Pandoo Nation won the International Open Division in the prestigious Land of Smiles Ice Hockey Classic in Bangkok (October 30 – November 2) with a 6-2 victory over the Siberian Bears from Russia.
The Pandoo Nation ice hockey team was spearheaded by forward Sam Goodwin who led the squad with 5 goals and 4 assists in 6 games. The team also benefited from some great play by goaltender Francois Perreault who gave up just 14 goals in 6 games for a steady 2.33 GAA, including a shut-out in the semi-finals against pre-tournament favorite Kreuz Subsea Sharks.
The team included the founder of Pandoo Nation and 5 of its employees, but they also recruited from the United States to fill out the roster. These recruits included NCAA Division 1 players from prestigious ice hockey programs such as Niagara, Ferris State, Notre Dame, and Robert Morris. The team was managed by Singaporean resident, Pandoo Nation founder, and SIHA Men’s League regular Anthony Blass.
You can catch the team again as they will compete in upcoming tournaments in Singapore and Hong Kong. It should make for yet more interesting Open Division play. Well done boys!
