TERM ONE FOR 2020-2021 ICE DRAGONS
Hello to our new, and continuing, Ice Dragons kids and parents!
We are really excited to announce that our full ice is back across all age groups and times. We started modestly in August with two sessions on 1/3rd of the ice, twice a week, with a Sunday morning full ice option. We then added a full-ice ice time option, also twice a week, in September to bring us to four different ice-time sessions this month (including the Sunday morning full ice option). In the spirit of getting incrementally better, and closer to normal, we have secured five full-ice sessions, to start Term 1 of our program. Each session will cap the group at 25 players.
We humbly ask for your patience as we cannot implement more game-like situations on the ice as the COVID safe distancing rules prevent it. Currently we have no inside knowledge of a relaxing of the social distancing rules. This means we will continue with five stations with five dedicated coaches. We have split into lanes for skating drills and then pods around the ice with some success in the last two months.
The next communication you will receive will ask you to register at a pre-selected time for your son or daughter. The coaching committee has made a selection based on age and skill level appropriate placement. This will give us the best adherence to the American Development Model (ADM) guidelines which we follow to grow the skills and advancing the gameplay of our players.
In the interest of getting the term started and back on the ice regularly, we will move right to the practice sessions and we will postpone a welcome community event (with parents and kids) for a time when the government allows it.
The first term will run from October 1 to December 13, 2020
There will be 10 Monday night sessions
There will be 11 Thursday night sessions
There will be 10 Sunday morning sessions
Please be advised that you will be receiving a program description, safety logistics, facility rules, and scheduled time detailed in an individualised email that will be shared by the end of the week. In the meantime, please review our 2020-2021 program planning presentation linked below.Lastly, stay tuned for some introductions to our organising committee and current volunteers. Please know that we are always looking for help and if you are interested in joining this committed and hard-working group of volunteers please let us know by contacting us at singaporekidshockey@siha.org.sg.
