Three thrilling games on a memorable Championship Night.
The night of Sunday September 15, 2013 may go down as the best Men’s League night of all. First, all three Division Championship games were played on the same night which generated tremendous excitement and the largest crowds of the year, proving the format’s success. Second, on this particular Summer League Championship Night all three games went into Overtime. In the Division 3 game Team Yellow beat Team White 3-1 in a shoot-out. After Team Yellow grabbed a lead 0:50 seconds into the game on a goal by Gabriel Lau you had to wonder if we were in for a high scoring affair, but only one more goal was scored through the rest of regulation taking the game into a shoot-out tied at 1 a piece. Yellow’s Ky Sargeant then went on to stop all of the shots in the SO giving them a 3-1 victory. In the Division 2 game Team Black beat Team Red, again in a shoot-out. Team Black looked on their way to regulation victory until John Wolf scored with 4:00 left in the game to tie it at 2-2. nike air max pas cher The SO was as exciting as it gets with Joel Lyon scoring for Team Black on the 5th and last shot, and Aric Carlisle making a Championship winning walk-off save on Team Red’s final SO shot. ugg classic short boots After a 2-7 start to the season this was Team Black’s 6th straight victory capping off a great playoff run and proving that draft parity works and no team should ever feel they are out of contention. In the Division 1 game Team Yellow defeated Team Red, but this time instead of a shoot-out the teams elected to play 4-on-4 Overtime which only added to the excitement of the night. The game was an offensive back and forth thriller with both goalies having to be sharp as shots were 25-21 in favor of Team Red. Red opened a 2-0 lead in the first only to see it evaporate on 3 straight Yellow goals. Jamie Booth then scored an unassisted tally in the third to take the game to 3-3 and push it to OT. Less than 2:00 into the 4-on-4 OT Mike Lambert scored his second goal of the night, roofing it from close in, to give Team Yellow the victory and capping off a great night. bottes ugg pas cher That night will be tough to beat, but we’ll try again as the Winter League Championship Night is scheduled for Sunday, April 13th, 2014.
