From the Referee Crease…

Over the past few weeks Singapore played host to a couple of tournaments – the 9th Annual Singapore Invitational Hockey Tournament and the Scotiabank Ice Dragons Classic.
First off, I would like to say a big and sincere THANK YOU to every single one of the volunteers that made these tournaments possible.  Without the help and countless hours these volunteers put in, the tournaments just would not have been the successes that they were.
From an officials stand point, we used these weekends to strengthen our officiating program; both ‘Senior’ and ‘Youth’ officials benefited from instruction and supervision that was provided by the expertise of our friends from across the pond.
The Canadian officials, Jodi MacDonald and Jordan Sciarra, helped our guys by helping to officiate and supervise games, as well as conducting a talk about penalty selection and what supervisors look for.  They also gave in-game instruction while officiating with our home-grown SIHA officials.
The effort that has been put into development that has happened over the course of the past couple months could been seen on the ice with the quality of officiating during the games.  Coaches, players and parents were very appreciative with the standard of officiating that was put forth by our officials.
The SIHA officials would like to thank everyone for all of their support, and we look forward to bigger and better tournaments next year.
